The Iowa Chapter Spotlight is an easy way for local chapters to share information and ideas with other chapters from across the state to help make all chapters of Iowa FBLA as successful as possible. To have your chapter featured, submit this form and a chapter photo to Dana Lampe! This Month's Chapter Spotlight is on Eagle Grove FBLA
City: Eagle Grove, Iowa We like to get together at Christmas, have lots of pizza and pop, and then exchange our White Elephant Christmas presents Vegas style. We have seen some very interesting presents in the past. This year we added intense card games of “Spoons.”
What is your chapter's favorite March of Dimes activity?
Our favorite activity was our Rock A Thon. We were together for 7 hours, played a wide variety of games, had lots of pizza and snacks, gave away many prizes, and raised a lot of money for the March of Dimes.
What is your chapter's favorite or most profitable fundraiser? What is your chapter's favorite community service activity?
We love to play BINGO. We have been going to our local group home for mentally handicapped adults once a month for 15 years. We know all of the residents. They have become our friends. We purchase 12 prizes at the local Dollar General for the evening. The residents are so thankful for the smallest prize as well as the company of the students. Do you have any ideas for other Iowa FBLA chapters?
We try to plan a fun activity or service project for our monthly meetings. The members are willing to come if they know they will be doing something. We also provide snacks since many of the students are coming straight from an athletic practice. Other Information:
Eagle Grove is the oldest chapter in the state of Iowa. We have been going strong since August 1954 and only 3 advisers during that entire time. |
